Homer Spit camping

The feel

This is beachfront camping on the Homer Spit, where you fall asleep to waves and wake to eagles. The Fishing Hole Campground has over 80 sites, and the West Side Tent Camping Area is across from it and Ramp 5, with beach tent camping on the west side of the Spit.

Mariner Park sits at the base of the Spit and offers day-use as well as camping. Tents and RVs both camp here, and restrooms are nearby.

Crowds and best time

Sites are first come, first served, so turning up early on a summer weekend is the whole game.

Parking and rig size

Tents and RVs both camp here. Display the printed permit in your vehicle window, on your campsite post, or zip-tied to your tent. The city keeps two RV dump stations, open when weather permits and closed in fall when freezing begins.

Fees and reservations

$20 to $40 per night. No reservations; all city sites are first come, first served. Pay at a kiosk by cash or credit, or by text-to-pay at Fishing Hole and Mariner Park. Checks are not accepted.

Season and access

Open April 1 through October 31.

Arrive ahead of the weekend crowd, because no site can be held for you. Spring and fall nights are open too.
