Independence Mine Mill Loop

The feel

This is a short loop through the remains of Independence Mine State Historical Park, across tundra with a few rocks. The Hard Rock Trail passes restored buildings with interpretive panels, including mess halls, bunkhouses and a partially collapsed mill.

The Mill Loop has some steep sections, and the water tunnel portal looks out over the whole mine complex. Marmots are the wildlife you are most likely to see, and the Talkeetna Mountains frame the views.
