Begich Boggs Visitor Center

Portage

The feel

The Begich, Boggs Visitor Center sits in the heart of Portage Valley on the northwestern end of Portage Lake, built on the terminal moraine Portage Glacier left behind in 1914. Portage Glacier is no longer visible from the center, but there are views of Portage Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Inside are interactive exhibits for kids, in-depth information for adults and a theater showing a 20 minute film. The exhibits focus on the ecosystems of Portage Valley and Prince William Sound.
