Goober Lake
Sheep Mountain
The feel
Goober Lake is a remote stocked lake near Sheep Mountain, reached by a long trail rather than a roadside pull off. ADF&G hatchery staff stock it in mid-summer with rainbow trout fingerling (2-4”) and Arctic grayling catchables (7-14”).
Some of the fingerling from earlier stocking events have grown into good-sized fish, so the rainbow trout here are not all small.
