What it is like
Primrose Campground, near Moose Pass, is a small lakeside camp of 10 sites at the quiet south end of Kenai Lake. It runs mid May to mid September, and the sites are first-come, first-served. The campground has vault toilets, water, a boat launch and a trailhead, and the Primrose-Lost Lake trail starts here.
The camp is about 10 miles from Moose Pass, in the Eastern Kenai area. Primrose Creek, 0.1 miles away, has 8 first-come sites where it meets Kenai Lake, with a boat ramp, but it is closed to all salmon fishing. For a rest day, Grayling Lake is an easy 3.5 mile out and back through the woods. The Lost Lake Trail is a bike ride of about 15 miles point to point, rated advanced.
