Homer Spit Trail
The feel
The Homer Spit Trail is a paved path along the east side of the Spit, well used year round by walkers, runners, bikers and skaters. From the base of the Spit you pass Mud Bay on the east, where tidal fluctuations make for excellent birding, then Mariner Park on the west, where you can reach the beach.
Almost 3 miles in you pass the Nick Dudiak Fishing lagoon, cross Freight Dock Rd. and reach a T at the northwest corner of the harbor. From there the trail passes the Homer Boat Harbor and many boardwalk shops, and it ends where you can walk down to the beach just before Land's End Resort. The terrain is sea level with a few small hills of 20 feet.

Pick your turn at the T by the harbor. Left reaches a harbor overlook with a restroom, and right runs on toward Land's End. Add Coal Point Park for a picnic table.
